Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti yang sepekan silam tumbang di babak pertama Indonesia Open, berhasil memperbaiki prestasi di Japan Open.
Praveen/Melati lolos ke babak 2 Japan Open setelah menaklukkan wakil tuan rumah Yuki Kaneko/Misaki Matsutomo dalam duel sengit rubber-set yang berakhir dengan skor 21-15 19-21 21-10.
Hafiz Faizal/Gloria Widjaja di babak pertama Japan Open 2019 berhasil mengatasi perlawanan Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai dengan skor 21-19 21-18.
Tontowi Ammad/Winny Oktaviani Kandow gagal melanjutkan tren positif penampilan mereka. Owi/Winny yang mampu ke perempat final Indonesia Open, langsung tumbang di babak 1 Japan Open oleh ganda campuran Prancis, Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue.
Ganda campuran Indonesia lainnya, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari dijadwalkan bertanding melawan ganda Denmark, Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje.
